Meet the founder
Hi, I'm Syreeta
Hi, Mama! I’m Syreeta Gordon, a wife, mother of four, and a certified DONA International birth doula and trained postpartum doula. Through my work with Kangaroo Birthing & Maternity Concierge, LLC, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside incredible mothers like you for over seven years, offering support, encouragement, and practical tools through the beautiful (and sometimes messy) journey of motherhood.
Before becoming a doula, I poured my heart into serving families and children as an educator in the Pittsburgh Public School District and by leading youth programs in my community. But as I saw the gaps in support for moms transitioning into motherhood, I knew I had to do more.
That’s why I created Kangaroo Birthing & Maternity along with Unshakeable Motherhood, a nonprofit sister arm of New Sun Rising, designed to bridge that gap with love, education, and empowerment.

Stephanie Tabb is the founder of the Mommy Beauty Cutie Foundation, an organization committed to supporting mothers and families in need. Through our partnership as a vendor in the NurturHer App collaboration, her foundation plays a vital role in providing mothers with emergency baby essentials, ensuring they have the resources they need during critical moments.

Antionette Watkins is a dedicated and trained birth and postpartum doula with a passion for advocating for and educating mothers on best practices for birth and breastfeeding. She serves as the Lead Intake Coordinator for the NurturHer App collaboration, ensuring seamless support and resources for mothers during their journey.

Brooke Barry is the founder of Brooke’s Home Childcare, a trusted provider and vendor in the NurturHer app collaboration, she provides event and emergency childcare services. She supports families during critical moments, offering reliable care for events such as births, medical appointments, and court dates, ensuring parents have peace of mind when they need it most.

An Interesting Fun Fact
Did you know we successfully crowdfunded doula training in our community with the IOBY platform? This initiative was specifically aimed at empowering African American moms by providing culturally relevant care. By training aspiring doulas who share the same background and lived experiences as the birthing moms they serve, we’ve been able to bridge the gap and ensure mothers receive care that is not only professional but deeply relatable and affirming.

2018
The Journey Began...
Kangaroo Birthing & Maternity Concierge, LLC was officially established in January 2018, marking the start of a mission to provide comprehensive, compassionate support for mothers throughout their prenatal, birth, and postpartum journeys. Serving One Mom at a time.
2019
Ioby Made A Difference
In collaboration with the ONE Northside campaign, we launched a community-driven initiative to fund the “What is a Doula” workshop Series, while crowdfunding DONA International birth doula training through the IOBY platform. This effort culminated in a powerful community event featuring speakers like midwife Jatolla Davis, Muffy Mendoza of Brown Mamas, and the five doulas we proudly supported through crowdfunding to receive their doula training.
2020
NurturHer App Was Born
Amid the challenges of a global pandemic, we launched the NurturHer App to meet the critical need for maternal support when birth doulas were locked out of hospitals. This innovative project was developed in partnership with the Pittsburgh: A Safer Childbirth City initiative, supported by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF) and WHAMglobal, to make Pittsburgh a safer, more equitable, and accessible place for mothers to give birth.
2022
Partnership & Pilot Launch
In partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department’s Nurse Family Partnership, we piloted the NurturHer App with 15 families, quickly generating high demand for our services. With the support of Neighborhood Allies, we expanded our team by onboarding new Mommy Concierges, allowing us to serve even more moms and families in need.
